FAQ
Good questions, answered.
Everything you might want to know before your first evening with ChefAtYours.
Booking & how it works
How do I book a private chef with ChefAtYours?
Booking ChefAtYours starts with a conversation, not a form. Call, text, or message us on WhatsApp and tell us about your evening — the occasion, date, number of guests, and any tastes or dietary needs. We design a menu with you, confirm the details, and your chef arrives on the night to cook and serve.
There's no online checkout and no inquiry form. We believe a great evening starts with a real conversation, so every booking begins by reaching out directly.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking two to three weeks ahead, especially for weekends and special occasions. That said, we'll always try to accommodate shorter notice when our chefs are available — reach out and we'll tell you honestly what's possible for your date.
Holidays and milestone celebrations book up fastest. If your date is firm, the earlier you reach out, the better.
How many guests can you cook for?
ChefAtYours cooks for everything from an intimate dinner for two to a gathering of a dozen or more. The ideal experience is usually four to ten guests, where course-by-course service shines. For larger parties we'll discuss the best format to keep every plate excellent.
Tell us your headcount and we'll recommend a menu and service style that suits the group.
The menu & the meal
Can you accommodate allergies and dietary needs?
Yes. Allergies, intolerances, vegetarian and vegan diets, religious requirements, and picky eaters are all designed for from the start — never treated as an afterthought. Tell us during our first conversation and your chef will build the menu around every need at your table, safely and deliciously.
Please share any allergies clearly when we talk, including severity, so your chef can take the appropriate precautions in your kitchen.
Do I choose the menu or does the chef?
Both. We design your menu together. You share the flavours you love, the occasion, and your guests; your chef proposes courses built around what's in season and refines them with you until it feels right. The result is personal — never picked from a fixed list.
If you'd prefer to hand it over entirely and be surprised, that's welcome too — many of our hosts do exactly that.
What kitchen equipment do you need?
Very little. Your chef arrives with the tools they need and works with a standard home kitchen — a stovetop, oven, counter space, and a sink. During our planning conversation we'll confirm a few details about your space so the evening runs seamlessly, with no surprises on the night.
If anything specialised is required for your chosen menu, we'll let you know well in advance.
Before & after
Do you clean up afterwards?
Always. A full kitchen clean-down is included in every ChefAtYours evening. Your chef washes up, clears away, and leaves your kitchen exactly as they found it. When the last plate is cleared, there is genuinely nothing left for you to do but enjoy the rest of your night.
Cleanup is never an add-on or an afterthought — it's part of the service, every time.
Which areas do you serve?
ChefAtYours currently serves the Greater Toronto Area, including Toronto, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, and Oakville. We're expanding across Ontario and, in time, the rest of Canada. If you're just outside our usual area, reach out — we'll always try to make your evening work.
Travel beyond the core GTA may be possible for certain dates; just ask when we talk.
