FAQ

Good questions, answered.

Everything you might want to know before your first BraidAtYours visit.

Booking & how it works

How do I book a BraidAtYours visit?

Booking is by message — call, text, or WhatsApp us with your preferred style, hair length and texture, date, time, and location. We'll confirm your stylist and how long to set aside. No app, no online form, no waiting on hold.

A real conversation upfront means we can match you with a stylist who's genuinely skilled in the style you want, and make sure the timing works for your day.

How long does a braiding session actually take?

It depends on the style: cornrows and kids' styles typically run 1–2 hours, twist styles 3–5 hours, box braids 4–6 hours, and knotless braids 5–7 hours for a full head. We'll give you a realistic estimate when you book based on your hair length, density, and the size of braid you want.

We'd rather tell you honestly upfront that a style takes six hours than rush it and hand back uneven parts. Block out more time than you think — most clients are glad they did.

How much notice do I need to book?

We recommend booking at least 3–4 days ahead, especially for longer styles like box braids or knotless braids, to guarantee your preferred stylist and time. For shorter styles like cornrows, we can often accommodate less notice — reach out and we'll let you know what's available.

Weekend slots for full-day styles fill up fast. If you have a date in mind — a trip, an event, back-to-school — book as early as you can.

The visit itself

What space and prep do I need?

Your stylist needs a comfortable chair at a workable height, good lighting, and space to move around you. For longer sessions, having a show queued up, snacks nearby, and your hair washed, dried, and detangled beforehand all help the session go smoothly.

We'll send prep tips specific to your chosen style when you book — a little preparation makes a long session much more comfortable.

Do you braid children's hair?

Yes — kids' protective styles are one of our most requested services. Your stylist is patient with children, builds in breaks, and keeps the session calm and comfortable rather than rushing through it.

Many parents book BraidAtYours specifically because a home setting is far less overwhelming for a child than a busy salon.

Will braiding damage my hair or edges?

Not when it's done properly. Every BraidAtYours stylist uses gentle, appropriate tension and will speak up if a requested size or style risks stressing your hair or edges. Hair health comes first — we'd rather adjust the plan than hand back a style that hurts.

If you have specific concerns — thinning edges, previous breakage, a sensitive scalp — mention it when you book so your stylist can plan accordingly.

Areas & pricing

How much does an at-home braiding session cost in Toronto?

BraidAtYours pricing is quoted upfront before you commit — it depends on the style, your hair length and density, and your location in the GTA. Get in touch and we'll give you a clear price in the first conversation. No surprises on the day.

Because session length varies so much by style, we always confirm price and time together so you know exactly what to expect.

Which areas of the GTA do you serve?

BraidAtYours currently serves the Greater Toronto Area, including Toronto, North York, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, and Oakville. If you're just outside the GTA, reach out — we'll do our best to make it work.

We're expanding across Ontario. If your area isn't listed, ask — coverage grows regularly.
